If it was me, I would definitely prefer a nice new engine with O miles on it laugh.gif, rather than a repair, if it is paid for by the insurance.

Sorry to hear the news TSpar and good luck with the outcome.

Well its now at the garage and they are going to let me know IDC what damage has occurred. Like you say a nice new engine at 40k would do nicely if its going to be free grin.gif

Hope you can get a new engine if needed 169144-ok.gif When i took my car into APS for the first time, they noticed from underneath that the one way ball valave for the bottom of the auxilliary air pump line wasn't fitted, meaning water from large puddles/standing water could in theory get in when the aux line is used just after starting when cold, which wouldnt normally be a problem until we get weather and rain as we have recently. So much for in depth VW PDI's.... confused.gif

Got the phone call i was expecting today. The garage got the car started again but there is a rather bad knocking noise coming from the engine. So a new engine it is going to be once the assessors have been and given them the green light to go ahead. How long does a new engine take to fit and be tested?

Not very good explanation there by me smashfreakB.gif not 48hrs in work time, i meant 2 days, the dealer had my old one out in the first day, new one in second day, road test etc that day, following day check levels, road tested again then handed over too me 169144-ok.gif

I can see Tspar's claim form now...

"I was driving along and this big bloke with a white beard and a deep voice jumped out in front of me with a big bucket of water and threw it all over the car. When I say a big bucket, I mean a feckin enormous bucket. In fact it was so big it flooded the whole road. So please can I have a new engine...?" tongue.gif

Blimey, that quick?. The insurers inspector type bod is going to contact the garage within 48 hours they said. I suspect due to the level of claims it will probably be just a phone call. I cant imagine it will be anything other than a green light for the job as it would cost them over double the fitting of a new engine to write it off. Lets hope so anyway 169144-ok.gif
