thoso845
Hello all My beautiful E46 320i is due for its first service in my care; its approaching 48k miles so I suspect its an Inspection II... It has previously been serviced by Stratstone BMW Derby, but I'm concious about finding the right place... I've heard Stratstone is not fantastic(?), so now I've got a question for you all: Which BMW / independent garage would you recommend for servicing a beemer in the Derbyshire / Leicestershire area? Are there any that you definitely would NOT recommend? Cheers Thomas

theduisbergkid
I'm in Leics, I use Barry Deadman (near the train station) on the recommendation of a fellow TSNer, he did a first class job on my E46 330ci (did an inspection II plus a few other bits and bobs) and has all the latest kit, he's a fanatic, really knows his stuff. Not heard good things about Gore, but haven't used 'em myself. theduisbergkid
Busted! Yup - here's a pic of him painting a suspiciously transit van-like 'BMW' door... Some gibberish from their website... "Our paint shop has a very high reputation for the quality of its paintwork, and there is not much in the sense of vehicle paint that it cannot match or paint" and... "our vast experience of all makes of vehicle including BMW’s"
cruiser647
"Our paint shop has a very high reputation for the quality of its paintwork, and there is not much in the sense of vehicle paint that it cannot match or paint" Does that make sense? theduisbergkid
Does that make sense? Nope, their home-made Website is littered with nonsense like that, I was rather hoping Satpal would come along and comment but I think he's too busy panel-beating vans.... Perhaps if you had said you were Gore motors at the outset, instead of just plugging your own business, people would take you more seriously. There are a few BMW owners in here, me included, who are in the East Mids. Now you've been 'outed' perhaps you'd like to tell us why anyone should use Gore Motors, your website doesn't exactly instill confidence...... ETA : You've gone bust 3 times in the last year or so I believe ? Sorry - but the company originally going into trouble was the case of putting all your eggs in one basket, getting 85% of work from one work provider ( insurance company ). when it pulled the plug after opening their own bodyshop , it left us stranded. That we are trying to stand on our feet is the testament to quality of our repairs
theduisbergkid
Understood. Are you related to Queensway Motors in any way ? Do you have all the latest BMW diagnostic equipment, or are you just a bodyshop ? Not being deliberately unkind here, but your website will deter more customers that it attracts. Good luck with your business.
