AZURES3
Guys With 7700 miles on the clock the DIS is showing 2900 miles until the first service. I do mostly short journeys due to my 8 mile round trip to work. So I believe the AVS service calculation is probably correct but I am not sure it is worth the extra for the AVS service if I only do about 10k per year and mostly short journeys. Can I get it serviced at 10K or 1 year and ask them to move me to fixed intervals or do you have to have the first one completed as an AVS service etc. I believe the oil for the AVS service is more expensive due to the long life properties. Was going to call the dealer but would rather get some good advice from TSN first AZ
ian_m
AFAIK you can get it swapped over to fixed servicing
ian_m
The same subject is being discussed here in the A4 forum
Cupramax
Az, I swapped my 2.0TFSi over to fixed, mine was even worse than yours, only got 8500 out of it before the first service. If you only do short runs fixed is best. They dont call me Mr Lead foot for nothing
d3fy
How much of a saving is it, I'm also interested in doing this
Cupramax
[ QUOTE ] How much of a saving is it, I'm also interested in doing this [/ QUOTE ] The only saving is not having to go in for a service so often, i.e yearly or 10k rather than every 8 months for me i think there may be some difference in the schedule requirements but its negligable cost wise. d3fy
Sure, I thought on the A4 thread it says its half the price? If thats the only benefit then, I will stick with AVS and just not get it serviced until the 12 month mark
Dandle
My A3 came up for its first AVS service at nearly bang on 9k miles and 13 months. It only cost £154 and I had an extra month out of it over fixed servicing.

Sparky
My S3 is counting me down from 19k miles, or two years. Does this mean I'm not on AVS? Sure I read somewhere that the MY 2008 S3s were coming with higher allowances between servicing, but not sure now if I'm on AVS or not.
ian_m
Isnt fixed 10k or 1yr??? If it is then you are on AVS
Sparky
I thought so mate. In that case it won't stay on 19k for long

AZURES3
I thought the oil was cheaper on the fixed servicing too ? AZ
ian_m
It is apparently It would prob be cheaper to supply your own oil though

S3Rob
Yep they can change it over at service AZ. AVS certainly works though, I'm on target for 15,000 mile service intervals as all my journeys are relatively long. Interesting how much of a difference it makes to oil quality by having lots of short journeys.
