CarMad
New Fuji models The F31d is replaced by the F50fd. It's 12 mega pix, has second generation face detection, full image stabalisation and a bigger screen on the back, oh and its XD and SD this time. You can get it in black or silver and its out in September. Detailed specs of new F50fd
zerologic
I think I might hold out until September to change my IXUS 400. I have read all the good things on here about the f31d so this is hopefully going to be the mutts nuts! It looks good in black too! Thanks for the tip off
gizze
I think I will go back to a Fuji when this is out, I swapped my old Fuji 4700 for a Sony 7.2 megapixel camera and it is shite!!! Need a good point and shoot as you don't always want your SLR, but the Sony just isn't up to the job.
Froggy
Feck, was just about to buy a 31fd this weekend. Now what do I do, hold on or snap up a bargain....
CarMad
Only thing I'd say about the new model is battery life. Image stabalisation kills it I think. The F30/31fd has a rating of 600 shots, the new one only 230 shots from a battery. Thats a big difference, I like that I can carry mine around for what seems like weeks and take shots and still I've never had the battery less than half full. I guess it would not be needed in all situations so if you just turn it on when needed it could make the batteries go further???
CarMad
I had the same though but will have to see what the reviews say or when more details are out.

frazervisser
Remember that when fuji say it 12mp it not a 12mp chip but two 6mp chips. One to record the highlights and one the shadows it the merges these to increase the dynamic range! Basically dont let the numbers blow you away the lens is still the most important part of any camera!
Waylander
I thought it was the excellent CCD of the Fuji that gave it the superior low light performance?
frazervisser
The CCD is made up of two parts. Its moved on a bit now but the gist is the same
