badger5
i went yesterday after receiving a free ticket (thanks neil) was'nt planning on taking my s8 out on track.. i race @ combe in my ibiza so get my fill of combe thru the year. BUT i could'nt restrain myself and booked 3 sessions. my motors been round the ring a few times, so is not a track virgin, but it was interesting to drive the track i know so well in my race car compared to the comfy leather armchair which is the s8. aside from the autobox being pants in knowing what gear to be in, tiptronic mode used to tell it afterwards, it circulated nicely. esp off and slide it round.. nice and predictable. big old barge which someone managed to pass other faster cars often. did anyone else think the demo driven r8 was'nt being driven fast? no way should i have been able to cruise by it on 2 out of the 3 sessions i came up behind it. i luv my s8, so competant on track, minimal roll, fully composed and so much grip. no bumps at combe after all! lol A8 DUH
Avus_Bub
[ QUOTE ] no bumps at combe after all! lol [/ QUOTE ] Yeah right! I wish that I'd taken my lid now as single sessions were only £35, would've been just enough for me and my 3mm tyres!

Avus_Bub
Still undecided Ian. I've never been a Goodyear fan TBH. I might just go for another set of Rossos but XL rated.
danksy
Well I managed to meet the following of you: Mgoliver Avus Bub Kite Caddy TonyS8 Shark_90 JC Lottiefox Daz I think that was all I couldn't split Avus Bub's car and JC's But I didn't think the TT had the real edge Good to see you guys again
RedRobin
....So we succeeded in hiding from you, dansky I agree - Goodness knows how they would judge between Bub's and JC's but the TT was just lots of yukky but very clean yellow - OTT imo. Ian_C
Thought that was your D3 in the car park! I've just added a few pics to the album, starting with the R8 parked with APS. Ian PS. Tarmac_Terrorist
Certainly was a great day but unbfortunately I didn't manage to meet too many of you at this one! JC & Avus - Your cars were immaculately groomed! Well done guys. RR - Saw you sat in your car with the bonnet up - just assumed you'd broken down ...then I saw the attractive female in your passenger seat and realised that this was no breakdown! The CF looks very nice indeed. That silver R8 performing the so-called 'fast passenger lap' didn't go above 60 did it? I noticed the driver seemed extremely careful to adjust his speed to keep it well away from traffic! The only disappointing bit was the burger situation. My favourite 'greasy spoon' burger van was shut. This left the option of a gourmet baked potato from the gourmet wagon or the 'Combe Ace Cafe'. Decided to go for the cafe option ready to order my sausage and egg burger...just to find that they stopped doing them as it was my turn to be served and subsequently offered a rather bland and watery chicken curry I also noticed that the gourmet catering unit ran out of food later in the afternoon! Shambles... PS I hope it wasn't any of you guys who dropped the oil on the track. Appeared to be a fairly major loss!

Tarmac_Terrorist
Being an Audi day Ian I assumed that only Audi's were allowed in the club areas. I therefore abandoned my VW a bit further down the road. Originally, I was going to travel with my Brother in Law in his A8 (the blue one which followed me in) but my evening plans didn't allow this. When I parked up and walked back to the TSN area everyone had moved on. I loved that white A5 in the TSN area - one of my favoutite cars of the day actually. Ian_C
Nah, you would have been fine to park the Golf at the back of the pitch. Still VAG, not like it's a Peugeot or anything! In fact, does anyone know who parked that 2001 Y BMW 750iL on our section? Ian

Mook
I think I confused the hell out of Daz as I flashed him when I was going to and he was leaving Combe at about 2pm. But then I wasn't in my toy, so how the feck was he supposed to know who this random person was in a blue A4 Bub - you have either got a severe addiction or compulsive disorder. That car is unbelievably spotless I found it difficult to pick between JC and Bub's car, but at the end of the day, it would have to be Bub's that got it for the ludicrous attention to detail - oh and that JC's car has got silver calipers Shark - that S2 is way too quiet. Need to be able to hear the feckin thing. Oh, and, based on how quick that QST toy was around the track (and the noise!) I now want an MTM supercharger conversion for the S4... Mook
Full Milltek apparently, but with straight-through centre sections. I'm just glad I went for silenced centre sections on mine! Well yes, there is the matter of the loaner. More blue than a blue thing on a blue day with blue sky. And the wheels are pretty duff as well. The only thing I like about that car is, erm, yes. No, I can't think of anything I like about it. It's bloody horrible. But it goes back at the end of this week. Hopefully
Froggy
Gutted I couldn't make this in the end. Looks like it was another good day. Maybe next time.... Bloody social life getting in the way of stuff.
