shark_90
If I short these two pins in the working 80, I get the dashboard to work as if I'd switched the ignition to ON. If I short the same pins in the other 80, the minicheck doesn't come up and the dashboard appears not to work.
shark_90
A better view of the pins in question:
shark_90
The terminal of this positive pin on the igintion plug is numbered "30" although it can't be seen as I only had my camera phone to take the pictures with.
GBC
This is the wiring of the Ignition Switch. The two thick red wires(2.5mm) marked ro (rot=red) are the +12v in to the switch. The wire going to the Mini Check unit is the thin(0.5mm) red and asould also have 12v on it in the IGN position. You will probably have to do this with the switch assembled as other terminals have 12v on as well in that position.
GBC
If it is easier to get at the pin on the rear of the cluster, then this is the wiring for that. There should be +12v on this pin from the ignition, and also a permanent 12v on the pin next to it on the wiring diagram T14/8.
afterburnerbg
A holy thread resurrection that is, but did this problem get solved? I got the same exact thing in my 80 Competition (94 B4 2.0 16V) and can't seem to find the cause. This thread comes after a search in google, so it's a hope
