bowie
I've posted this here and not the marketplace as I think its more relevant here. I've liked the look of the 2007 yr RCD300s with the silver buttons for a while now and while ebaying recently came accross one with a damaged screen. The intention was just to swap the facia as the screen is not part of this. I disassembled the new unit to leave me with the facia and then proceeded to remove my 2006 head unit. Only when looking at disassembling my facia did I notice the facia screw points were different. On further inspection it transpired that the head units were made by different manufacturers...mine Blaupunkt and the 07 Grundig. Which brings me round to the question. Anyone interested in swapping theirs for the silver buttoned front , and if their RCD300 is made by Grundig then I will sell it for £20 plus £10 for post. Cheap way to get the silver buttons and update your dash. Chris.

[/ QUOTE ] Grundig supply loads of manufacturers, not sure who at the moment (well VW anyway judging by this post) but they certainly used to be OEM for GM as all Vauxhalls and Opels had their kit in and sounded pretty good for its time. TagnuT
I'm pretty sure that they do Seat as well. Which is funny as the stereo sounds better in the current Leon than the Golf

bowie
Ryan, lets face it, the dash is pretty tacky in the first place. I think the silver buttons break up the monotinous grey. After all , isn't that why VWs designers did it ? Chris.

I would agree that for example an Audi A3 dash is of better material quality but then I suspect many would agree that the A3 is about best in it's class for cabin materials & feel. I would pitch the Golf a close 2nd - way ahead of Ford, Vauxhall, Honda, Toyota rivals. I would agree that some areas might look a bit plasticky in places but not tacky. bowie
Tacky , plasticky ? same thing in my book. I came from an S3 and as you say the materials and fit are much better. I've noticed with the MKV Golf and the MKV and VI Polo that the quality of the materials has gone downhill. Maybe so they can try and compete on price with the Fords , etc. So no, I wasn't comparing it to focuses , mondeos etc. Although, only slightly better materials makes it better than the Focus. Chris. Snoopy
[ QUOTE ] Grundig! I thought they bowed out of the electronics market when the 'wireless' evolved! No wonder they sound so shite. [/ QUOTE ] Nothing wrong with Grundig they simply made it to VWs specs The stuff they use to do for aftermarket car audio in the late 90s early 00's was damb fine stuff equal to Alpine in most peoples eyes imho it was far better quality and also had more power. Infact i would even use there headunits from back then in any of todays soundquality competition cars out there.
