Rich
This seems the best place to post this! I'm considering getting rid of my S3 for something a bit cheaper and I quite like the idea of the 2.4 JTD 156. Just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with them and if my idea is a good/bad one! Cheers Rich
danksy
I had a drag with one from about 70mph up to 130mph, on the autostrada out of Milan towards Monte Bianco. Those Alfa diesels have great midrange torque and I almost got outdragged and smoked in my Heavily modded TTR! He gave up at 130, *and my missus was going nuts*
Rich
Yeah I presumed a 150bhp deisel can't be too bad from a performance point of view, my problem is how long will it sit on the side of the road or in the Alfa stealership!! I love my S3 and don't won't to get rid of it but I'm looking to buy a house soon, I should be able to pick up a 1-2 year old 156 JTD with the remaining amount after paying the loan for the S3 up (or near enough), but as I said I'm worried about the reliability!! Still, everytime I get in the S3 I decide its staying!! Rich
danksy
You should get a 2nd hand alfa for next to nowt due to the huge depreciation. This will be offset by higher running costs as the car gets older. My old man had a 164 3.0L 24V lusso, which in my opinion was one of the best engines ever. The same couldn't be said for the electrics!
